I use that same one, bought mine from summit though, same price too I think. Works pretty good.

those work good, they don't do the cable seals though.

I bought the proper crimper years ago from power and signal, for $78 shipped. It's worth its weight in gold for the number of times I have used it (I'm sitting here next to 3-4K terminals in various sizes)

Wrong, they do the seals, but you have to crimp twice, once for the wire and once for the seal

Well, you are kind of wrong. They do do the seals, but not properly. Seals are not supposed to have the W crimp. I also have the $100+ delphi crimpers, and the way it does the seals is completely different. I try to use my delphi crimpers when possible, but I use these too.

I've done several hundred crimps with them and only had a couple where I had an issue crimping the seal. There is atrick to doing it, but it isn't easy to esplain. I have the correct crimper, but prefer to use this style. IT also allows you to use a PTH soldering iron to solder the wire connection, without worring about heating the seal, since you can do it before its crimped

The same type of crimper is available to do the sealed connections, here is a pic of it compared to the link posted.

It does make a difference on sealed connectors. Proper crimping is a round crimp for the seals.

If your looking to buy just for the metripack 150/280 connectors, I would look for this tool instead the cost is about the same

I personally do not own this tool, but it looks similar to the first link which I do own and works good. If I did not have the packard tool, I would purchase this one as well.

My packard tool does the cable seals in a seperate operation as well, so soldering is not an problem if you choose to.

With that tool I've found it helps if you prebend the ends of the seal tabs to help them overlap

I realize this is an old thread, but can you use this tool for 10-12 gauge wires for metripack 480?

Thanks
