Default HP Tunners Credits

I have been told repeatedly that my ’98 Z28 doesn’t require any credit usage with HP Tuners.

Is this true?

In my case I had to use 2 credits when I began tuning it 18 months ago and it tells me I need to tune a total of 10 ’98 Z28s to unlock the model year.

Your input is greatly appreciated

I accidentally put an extra n in tuners in the title.

if you tune it yes you have to use credits, but to read and scan no you dont. you can buy the model year straight out for another 5 credits i think.

Thanks

That is exactly what I have been explaining to my buddies from the track but the keep trying to tell me I’m wrong.

For some reason they claim that tuning the ’98 model year doesn’t require credits.

Of course none of them have tuned a dam thing.

Thanks

I told them they were confusing HP Tuners with EFI Live. One guy just bought someone’s used tuners interface and insist ‘98s are free. He’ll get a surprise when he tries to tune it.

Hmm, IIRC, those of us '98 owners who started with the HPT serial EIO interface had access to the full 1998 model year including programming, and when you upgrade to the USB version those credits transfer. Not sure how it is treated if you started with the USB version.

Dunno, 98 licenses are just like any other & only cost 6 credits for the year/model license. If its telling you otherwise contact me directly at support at hptuners.com
