Question Crankshaft Position Sensor

Will the OBD II throw a code when their is a bad crankshaft position sensor? Slight miss(interm) @ idle & slight miss(interm) when driving no SES.

Yes.

You would get either:
P0335 (Crank Position Sensor Cicruit)
or
P0336 (Crank Position Sensor Circuit Performance)

When I put my new shortblock in the car I used my old crank position sensor with my old PCM, but had a new crank. The new crank and old sensor postion didn't match what was being stored in the PCM. I had a slight miss when under a little load from take off and was throwing P0335 DTC.

I had to have a friend at the Chevy dealer use his GM Tech 2 tool and do a "Crank Position Sensor Relearn". Smooth sailing after that.

Use ATAP if you have it to check for DTC's some DTC's will only MIL if they meet certain conditions.

Good luck,
Lee

Lee, I did the same thing different crank, old crank sensor and new pcm tuning. I have a bog or stumble when getting into the throttle until about 3900rpm then the car pulls real strong. Off idle and part throttle the car just goes flat. But no codes. Sounds like I will have to get the dealership to do the crank relearn for me too.
Thanks again,
Jeremy

How do I do a crank relearn? This sounds like my situation as well...
