Default Need Good Tuning Advice...

Hey guys, I am currently in the process of breaking in a new motor in my '98 F-body. My car has a speed density tune for a 347 aluminum LS1 sc: 10.0:1, stock ported LS1 heads, mild 222/224 .565/.565 112 LSA cam, turbocharged and tuned for 5 psi, through a 4K stalled and modified 4L60E with locking converter, stock 3.23 gears.

The new motor I am breaking in is a 370 built LQ4, sc: 8.7:1, -16cc forged pistons, hellfire piston rings, forged rods, 317 casting heads with patriot dual golds spring kit, 232/240 .595/.608 115 LSA cam, car is still turbocharged and using the same stalled 4L60E, same rear and gear.

I have been breaking in the the new motor on my old tune. I am almost done with the break-in. I also just got laid off from work I have been very gentle in the break-in. The car runs and drives very well with no stalling, surging or bucking of any kind. I bought the car turbocharged and was told by the previous owner that he believes the old tune was through HP Tuners.

I have no tuning experience, I don't know if my tune just needs to be tweaked or if I require a full new Tune. I have the WOT itch but I have not scratched once nor do I intend to until it is safe to go WOT. To me tuning is most important part of a build, but not having a job anymore, I am hesitant to drop a serious amount of change on a full new dyno tune without knowing how necessary it is, especially with the holidays right around the corner.

I am looking for some good tuning advice taking into consideration the terrible situation I currently find myself in. I'm located in South Florida. Thanks for taking the time to read.

First off. Does your car have a wideband?

Second you are going to need a full tune. Speed density is very specific and any little change will throw it off some. A whole new engine setup with different compression will deffinitely throw it off at WOT

Do you have hptuners?

I don't have HP Tuners, The car has a P.O.S. wide-band imitation, Cobalt gauge that reads either lean or rich with no numerical value indication of any kind. Thanks for the heads up, I was pretty sure I needed a full tune.

Are the injectors the same size from the old engine to the new one?

Yes, same size injectors in both motors, 55* Siemen.

I can help you, but to avoid spinning your wheels and losing time a wideband it necessary for an accurate tune as the fueling is one of the most important aspects in getting the what you paid for in the motor and turbo set up. I sent you a pm, so take a look at it and I'm sure we can work something out.
