Default loose wire coming out of PCM... what's it for?

Hey guys I was cleaning up my PCM harness wiring. I have a h/c/i/e 2001 LS1 swapped into a Mazda RX7. Anyway as i was cleaning up some wires and removing ones i didn't need I came across this one wire coming out of the red PCM plug

pin 53 GRA/BLK circuit no. 1687 spark Retard Signal

can anybody tell me what it's for? if i need to wire it back into something or if its not important... when i took all the loom/electrical tape of my harness it was just loose in there not connected to anything

thanks,
-Jeff

Just a guess, but with that label and knowing it is not the input from the knock sensors, It could be a trigger input for when the traction control system would pull timing.

It goes to the EBCM.

What the 2 previous posters said...

That's how the traction control function in the EBCM requests the PCM to reduce ignition timing (i.e. to reduce engine torque output).
