LS6 crate motor swap into camaro. tuning question....
I'm looking to replace a blown up motor in a 2002 ss with the gm performance LS6 crate motor. will the factory camaro computer tuning run this motor perfectly fine just as it was stock ls1? or will fine tuning need to be done as the ls6 has bigger cam and differnt heads? I am looking to have the car drive just as it would as if it was a a stock ls1.

I have a GM Performance LS6 crate motor in mine. It will run fine on the original LS1 factory tune. My does however have a custom dyno tune due to headers, cai, ory-pipe and cat back. I will say this, for a stock motor....this thing is amazing and it pulls like a bull from its 500rpm idle to 6500...............Its a Rush every time I drive it.......

run it fine, assuming you are keeping your cable TB. Not perfect though.
As "Joecar" says, a base tune from a CTS-V or ZO6 calibration flashed into the PCM with the correct Camaro Throttle control tables would be the preferred choice.

[QUOTE=Frost;12811660]The 2000 has a pretty aggressive timing table, .........QUOTE]
Yes agree,
It's odd that the earlier cars were "rated" at lower power, with up to 28* WOT timing, yet the '02 SS made more rated power with "only" 22-23.5*
It's the same story with the Holden Commodores (they used the Camaro LS1 with a different sump and exhaust manifolds). The early VT-II models had around 27* @ WOT and rated @ 305hp. With the later VZ (2005/6) models rated @ 335hp and using 21*.
