Default LC1 will go lean as soon as the coolant reaches 192*

Ok I am working on my speed density tune from a cold start up. I have everything fixed w/ my LC1 and have HP reading the same as the gauge.

Now when I log the car from a cold start it will read 12:4-13.1, this is what I am working on, trying to lean it out and get my IAC and stuff correct.

The problem is when the car goes from 190* to 192* the WB will shot from 12-13 to 21.1-21.8 and stay there. Also in the Table display, in the bottom right the Rich/Lean will turn Off.

Even after turn the car off, restart it and the temp is down to 180*, the WB will read correct for about 10-15 seconds and then goto 21.1-21.8 afr. What would cause this? I have everything set to run in OL. Air-pump is turned off & removed.

The 9feb10_startup_1 is the start up from from cold.
The 9feb10_startup_2 is after the car is warmed up.

Yet again I am bangin my head on the wall for this one.

As a check, I set my fans to kick on @ 220* and turn off @ 200*.

When I did this the car will idle and the WB will stay @ 12.4-13.1 range all the way up to 202*. I would of let it go further but the I had a hunch of what was goin on.

So then I used the VCM controls to click the fans on. As soon as I did this the WB shot right up to 21.1.

Why would the fans kicking on make the car go so lean so fast? When the fans are on, if i tap the throttle it will choke the car and then it has a hard time finding the idle.

If I leave the fans off and tap the throttle she'll rev up fine and idle right back down, no problem.

Probably one of the IAT affected tables. Look at your after start enrichment tables & stuff like that. I don't have my tunes on this PC to compare yours to or I might be able to help more....

You might be throwing a lot of current into the
ground and cutting back onthe voltage difference
available to drive injectors, or something like that.
At least you've found the handle; now start probing
around for what it's affecting. Like put the meter
on one of the 12V sensor feeds (like MAF) and
the block, the sheet metal return stud, a PCM ground
etc. and see what attends the fan turnon.

As Jimmy mentioned.. voltage?
Have you checked fuel pump volts when this happens?
Does the fuel psi tank when the fans come on?

Yesterday I went through a series of tunes trying my idle OL. The idle was perfect, drivability was worse. But as I calibrated my MAF (raised it), which AFR also turned out perfectly, my AFR would drift to 18-19. I could not bring it down. This was at ECT 160*. It also refused to go into any PE, remained at stoich. This bad behavior caused me to abandon the OL idle, which is stinky again. The MAF is still way off commanded but it runs perfectly, I just force more PE. No great ideas here, just sharing my experience.

UPDATE:

So today I warmed up the garage and started messing w/ the LC1 again.

Ran a 12g wire from the battery to a relay, then used the ignition wire for the on / off.

Did a free air calibration, and opened up Logworks. Fired the car up and Logworks was showing 13.5-13.6 idling. Would move from 13.2-13.8 will idling, so I opened up HP scan tool and turned the fans on.

AMAZING!!! The LC1 didn't shot to 21.1 or anything stupid. So i left the car idle for 20-25 mins watching the LC1 and it was holding in the 13 range. Give it some gas it would bounce around from going lean or rich.

So that was the problem noise or something from the power line. This explains why this past fall I would randomly get readings that we 2 points off from what a dynojet WB was reading.

Ah hah. Did you wire the cap in your WB lead?

Quick and dirty Dx: Turn on you AM radio and tune to no station. Turn vol up and see if there's noise.

before i had it wired coming off the one ignition wire w/ a fuse.

now i have a relay from that wire and power direct from battery.

ALL BETTER!!! had the car running again today and click the fans on & off, no changes, messed w/ radio & other crap just to see if anything changed, nothing!!!

now the fun part, tuning, atleast it isn't too far out. I was reading 13.2-13.4 @ idle @ 185*.
