Why can a later 3.8l (00-02) be programmed, whereas an earlier 3.8l (95-99), can't? The motor is supposed to be the same, is it as simple as an ECU and wiring swap? I'm putting on a FWD supercharger off of an earlier style car (91), and I'd like to be able to modify the ECU program. For those of you who say it cant be done read this www.firebirdgt.com/SC%20Firebirds.html Also the donor 3.8l was hooked up to an AT, but I'm trading it in for a MT, what exactly has to be done? Just a ECU program?

Just swap the PCM & harness.
I'm not exactly familiar with the 3.8 tuning progams does it allow transmission perameters to be modified??
