Default Tuning out error codes: no message vs disable

Title basically states it.

I'm sure all the major tuning software are the same in terms of tuning out error codes. But to be specific, I'm using Jet DST software.

Let us use rear o2 sensors as an example. I'm not running them and I want to tune them out of the diagnostic related stuff.

Jet DST gives two methods:
1) You can enable and disable an error code.
2) If it is enabled, you can tune it to no error reporting.

So, what is the "best" method for tuning out error codes? Disable it? Or no error reporting?

Not sure on that one but on HPT I use "no error reported."

No error reported is what I would do.

Is there a reason to use the no message over disabling?

When you still need it to function but just not set the light. Setting it to 'no error reported' is what needs to be done, regardless of the SES light, for most things.

Thanks for the insite so far.

If an item physically isn't there and the wiring is removed, would you still leave it enabled but no messages?

No error reported is good enough, but you can do both if it makes you feel better.

If you don't set it to not reporting, you're monitors will be listed as not completed and you will not pass the plug in test for emissions inspection

Joe, thank you for the explanation. That makes perfect sense now.
