Default Who has their own HP Tuners program for Datalogging?

I'm wondering if I should purchase HP Tuners for datalogging.

Right now, I wouldn't touch a program between passes to make corrections, since I'm to new at it. My tuner lives down the street and makes adjustments for me whenever I would need them.

But if I'm looking on HP Tuner's website correctly...the software/hardwire package I need is ~$500??

Or am I missing something?

I just want to be able to record my passes, then open them on my laptop to review, and then at the end of the day, take the information, and make adjustments to the car before the next test and tune.

VCM Scanner std is $349
VCM Scanner(pro hardware) is $499

Both will scan just fine, the pro hardware adds inputs/outputs for things like a wideband, etc.

now if I get to the point of where I can make my own adjustments, that's the $649?

I have a wideband, so the VCM scanner pro is what i'd need.

$500 is a rough pill to swallow when I'm not sure how much I'll actually use it yet.

Yep, 649 is the one you want. I have had it since 08, and I have not spent enough time learning the ins and outs of everything, but it is VERY nice to have to make changes to things that are relatively easy, and to use the scanner to see what's going on.

People are always selling used ones in the classifieds. Just look for one with few to no credits left on it for cheap. That way you can scan all you want and if you decided to start tuning yourself you can just buy credits then.

Of course make sure you know what you're getting before you buy one used.

I bought the pro version a couple years ago. very nice to have. I havent dug into the tunning too deep yet but will very soon. alot of people who get the standard version end up buying the pro later on. pro is much easier to use with a wideband o2. either way you wont regret it.

just my 2 cents.

Anything I should be careful about?

It's just the software and a cable, correct?

People either don't know what the have or want to act like they don't know. You need to understand the credit system, the know the difference between pro and standard and between serial and USB.

Have you considered EFI LIVE as a Scanner. It is considerably more feature packed than the HPTuners. You can also log data for a lot longer as it has provision for an SD card allowing hours of data to be stored rather than minutes. It also allows you to see the data on the LCD screen so you don't need a laptop all the time to see data.

Plus it can, even though its only configured for scanning pull tunes out of cars. You still don't even need a laptop to do that either.

O and its $100 cheaper. @ $400 and that is the premium model too.

My tuner only uses HP Tuner, so getting EFI Live would only make a mess.

I purchased last night off a user here on the boards, the HP Tuners Pro VCM Suite, (usb) connection
