Angry Please help !! P0036 Crank code

I just put my car back together after sitting for 3 years, new cam and lifters, cleaned up 852's milled .030, Patriot Springs, G5x2 Cam. Problem is I have this code P0336. Car starts and runs rough like no input from the crank sensor ??? The factory tach quits working after about one minute after start up? The scanner still shows live RPM ??? I did burn up a wire on the pass header going to the low oil switch that has now been fixed. On top of all this the trans is going to have to come back out because of the plug in the back of the crank is leaking and low oil pressure. I don't know what to do next

Are you saying that if there is no input from crank sensor it will not start ???

Yes, they are in the same loom.

anyone know what this is about "The CKP System Variation Learn Procedure must be preformed anytime the relationship between the CKP sensor and the CKP reluctor wheel is changed.

Normally you have to do a crank re-learn when you get a new computer to make the thing run normal. However, if you haven't changed your computer, then I think your crank signal is boofed, whether it be cooked, grounded or bad sensor.

There are idiosynchrasies to the signal that crank sensor picks up off of your crank reluctor wheel. This signal contributes to timing, rpm, everything, etc... The crank relearn programs in fudge factors (siganal delay, etc...) to ensure that the crank signal reported by the crank sensor accurately represents the position/speed of the crank.

When you are missing this crank sensor data in the PCM the car will run like crap. The easiest way to fix it is to take it to the dealership and have the Tech 2 do a crank relearn..... I think some of the LS1 tuning software can do this now as well, but don't quote me on that. Once your computer learns this, I'm not aware of them 'forgetting'.

What kevin said:

That's why I asked of the 2 sensor wires were in the same loom. You said you cooked the low oil wire.. What happened to the CK sensor wiring??

Definitely do the CKP learn. It can't possibly hurt and may actually help. I had to do this on a newly built LS2 402 for a friend recently to fix a bunch of misfiring.

You will need a Tech 2 in order to do the Crankshaft variation relearn so a Dealer is in order. If you find a cool writer or mechanic they might do it for free b/c it doesn't take long at all. Like if you had previous work done there or something. And I agree, it can make a HUGE difference to do it with some cars....it just depends but it won't hurt that's for sure.
