Default does the ecm store odometer readings

I was just wondering if the ECM or any other electronic box other than the gauge cluster stored the mileage of the car .

No, I belive that is stored in the BCM (body control module) or something like that, now I could be speaking out of place but thats how I understand it.

Hmmm...seems like someone has a loose dash and it needs tightening...it can still be done.

The only piece that keeps the total milage is the IPC=instrument panel cluster.

I know for sure that the cluster contains the mileage. I'm 99% sure that the PCM and/or BCM also contains the mileage. You can pull the mileage using a GM Tech2. But that doesn't mean that you can't swap the PCM and/or the cluster and have conflicting mileage records.
