Default EFI Live OS swap?

I am working on an lq4 swap into a 63 olds right now and have a couple questions about the pcm programming. I intend to buy EFI Live this week but my question is can I use my 2003 lq4 pcm and flash an 02 OS to it? My PCM is for a DBW and a 4L80E. My swap uses a cable drive, a 4L60E, and an LS2 maf. Can efi live make this work with my 03 PCM or do I need to find an older one?

Why would you want to?
You should be able to find 2003 OS for 5.3 DBC with a 4l60e from an Express van
If you can use your PCM or not would depend on if it has IAC drivers in it or not
There would be wiring change and you'd need new covers on your PCM plug to go to the older PCM

I forgot to mention that I also bought an Ebay wire harness that said it needs an 896 or 411 PCM. It didn't arrive yet so I don't know if the plug is actually different than my PCM or if it is something else. Depending on the answer to this question your idea to find an 03 OS that fits the bill may be a good one.

There are 516k & 1mb LS1 PCMs, make sure you don't load the wrong OS/.tun into it.

The 896 and 411 PCM's have Blue and Red connectors
Your PCM take the Blue and Green ones

Thanks for the tip, it sounds like that means I am best off to find an 01 or 02 PCM and go from there or is there another option?

AVB- Thanks for the tutorial link. I am going to order EFILive today, anybody have a site sponser they would like to suggest for me to order from?

Would have probably been easier to just put a DBW throttle body on it and run the 2003 OS/PCM that you already have.

It might have been easier, maybe even cheaper. I originally thought the cable drive would be cheaper and easier because my motor didn't come with the DBW pedal, the harness is more money, and my DBW throttle body won't clear the truck water pump on my LQ4 after I did an LS6 intake swap. I would say cost is pretty much a wash though by the time I buy a new cable drive throttle body, a lokar cable and bracket, and a different PCM to work with the cheaper wire harness I bought.

Much easier and cheaper to get a PCM at this point...

After doing some more research I have found that my 03 PCM does have the needed IAC hardware so it is fully capable of working in my setup. I have also found that the red PCM connector on my 02 harness can easily be made to work in the green PCM slot. Now I just have to compare pinouts a bit closer to see if anything needs to be re-pinned or not. Depending on how many wires (if any) need to be re-pinned for my setup I will decide whether it is worth the effort or if I should just buy a 411 PCM and be done with it. I have read the 03 PCM is better than the older ones but is it worth my while to even pursue comparing pinouts at this point? The price of the 411 PCM doesn't bother me but if there is a real advantage to using the 03 PCM I have it may be worth looking in to.

Can't see any benefit to all the extra work - just get the 411 PCM...
