Not sure you can load another tune without using credits. You can however open your file, run a compare of their file and then copy over all the differences and save.

I didn't realise you couldn't just flash in a tune from another model with the same cal. That's pretty **** really. EFI LIVE you can flash in what ever you like if its for that type of controller.

You have to license each Vin (If I am not mistaken), so each different VIN or OS needs to be licensed which cost credits.

HP Tuners has their tune repository online. Search and download any and all tunes you want.
Free to all owners of HPTuners.

But as already stated, the last thing you want to do, is slapping in a random tune someone emailed to you...My god, that could be so disastrous! Not to mention the specific information in each tune such as the vehicle VIN, VCM ID and BCC information.

I suggest comparing and examine what is different before pasting the new charts into your own tune.

But you always post about HP Tuners, even though you personally hate it. You even post on the HP Tuners forum. If you really hate it this much why not just give it a rest.

I'm with ya there. I always see him on there talking **** about it. I just wonder why. I think people like him just like to bitch. I bet he is on the efi live forum telling them about how HP Tuners does this and EFI Live doesn't. I know this will get him fired up but damn man. Take a chill pill and shut the hell up.

If you send the tune to someone and they have that model/year unlocked, then it will be easy. That would be the only way that it could be free for you. (If they were nice and didn't charge you anything.)

if you bought tuning software so you could tune your car then why would you want to just copy someones work?

The big advantage to having the software is to tune your own car and make it your own custom tune. If you want to get a copy of a tune then it would be cheaper to just buy a mail order tune and not invest in the software.

Nothing wrong with getting a base tune (from a known good tuner) and then learning from there. Just don't expect to have no issues, then go run PB's.
Tuning is a big learing curve.

OK here is the deal me and some budies have split the cost of the software and I don't know enough about how to tune, I just don't like the fact of sending my computer to someone and if I already have it I can make some scans and have someone make a tune for it and email it back to me. I already talked to steve (FROST) and he is gonna help me, so thanks.

I bought HPTuners didn't I. So why doesn't that give me the right to comment on it good or bad. Or would people rather suck eachother off all day and only hear good things rather than bad. Personally I like to know all that I can. Good and Bad.

...and you have said something good when? It doesn't matter to me, I have used them both, they both have good and bad points.

Plenty of times. For example I prefer the HPT E38 custom OS'. Far easier to tune with a conventional VE table. I also like RTT for LS1's. Its not anywhere near as capable as using a Road Runner but its more convenient. Its also easier to apply COS' with HPT.. That's about all I got though.
