Taking a tune from a 2002 LS1 and transfering it to a 2000 LS1
Here is the situation,
A friend of mine knows just a little bit about HP Tuners and has bought the 650 dollar pro version. My car and his car have nearly the same mods. Same Cam, same heads, similar exhaust, similar stall size, and similar intake.
What does you have to do to take his tune from his 2002 camaro and put it on my 2000 camaro?
As far as I know the PCMs are different part numbers because the 2000s have EGR pump programming.
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks,
Dakota

You have to realize that just because you guys have the same combo doesn't mean the tune will end up being the same, nor should you just copy his tune and load it into your computer and call it good. There are licensing concerns with two computers, different VIN numbers, different operating systems, actually passing emissions here in AZ, etc.

Do it right and tune "your" car... copying tunes by cutting and pasting tables is a half-assed way of doing things and can bite you... If you don't know how to tune, take it to someone who does.
I can never understand how people will spend thousands on mods, but then don't handle the tuning correctly because it is either "too expensive" or "too hard"... seems much cheaper to me to spend $400 to $500 on a tune done right rather than spend thousands on a new engine...

You can tune your 2000PCM with a 2002 OS. If you just use his tune you will not have an operating egr valve, etc. This is not necessarily a bad thing but it should be a starting point.
