Default richer or leaner

I am new to using HP Tuners and a little overwhelmed by it. I just put a new engine with a 250's cam in my car and had Synergy do the base tune and it ran perfect in california, but I live 4500 feet higher than where it was tuned. I wouldn't expect the drivability to be great with this cam and was very surprised at how well it was at sea level. I know it has room for improvement at my elevation. It has a MAF tune in it. There seems to be A LOT of different ways to richen or lean the tune. What is the most common, best, easiest, or first way to do it at a cruise and at wot. It idles great. Just has a lot more surge in it at a cruise from 1500-2500 rpm's.
I would really appreciate any usefull advice.

If it's in closed loop when you cruise there, you can't fatten it up because the trims will trim it back to stoich.

I may be in over my head. What if I change the injector flow rate?

For the love of god, don't do that. Dial your airflow model/MAF in. Then if you want to screw with AFR's.. Turn off CL and command it

Same answer as before... trimming will move more negative, but final fueling will be the same. That's what the trims are for.

When using closed loop, the largest cause of buck or surge is excess airflow. Timing also plays a role.

Im still confused. So do I need to adjust my MAF frequencies. Do I need to adjust my stft or ltft. Do I need to get out of closed loop to do this, or am I not even in the same ball park? How do I comand an afr.

I am thinking you need to go over to the HP Tuners site and do some reading and research on the basics. No offense but you need to know how the system works before you get totally lost and then you will be in real trouble.

Like said above - no offense - but judging from the questions you are asking, you need to get educated before you even plug into the OBDII port...
