Default while cruising, converter comes unlocked?????

some people say it could be caused by a misfire code. and for a while the engine light would come on close to when the converter unlocked. but the last time to the dyno fixed all the misfires i guess because the light no longer comes on. but the converter still comes unlocked.

and sometimes after a while it will lock back up. i dont know what the hell it could be?

maybe it could be the converter. if nobody knows the reason for this i will post it in one of the other forums discussing the converter itself.

thanks for any help...

The misfires may have been reduced to a rate that occasionally
unlocks the converter, but is low enough not to trip whatever
threshold is needed to set a SES code. If possible, get some driving
logged and see what misfire history you have.

If you have LS1 Edit...look in the readme file on how to adjust your missfires without turning them off... Set it up the way it is explained and see if that helps...if not, then look into the tunning for the converter itself. As in what mph it releases. Id check out the missfires first though.

Tapping the brake pedal will unlock the converter, but it should lock up again quickly. That's probably not it based on how you say it happens. But, if setting misfire parameters doesn't work, try holding the brake pedal up with your foot while driving.

Are you pulling any other codes besides missfires??? Like a Po751. With a bigger stall, i used to throw that one but i shut it off and havnt had the problem since, but it used to unlock the converter.
