Default question about tuning wot at track or street?

if i start the pass off and run throught the gears i am commanding 12.2 and seeing 14/1.
If i am on the highway and cruising at 2000 rpm's and floor it, im seeing close to my 12.2 commanded. WHat is the best method of tuning wot? just one gear or a full pass?

One gear is more repeatable. What ever gear gets you at 1:1 ratio.

i just seen the 14.1 air fuel at wot on a full pass and scared me. even in 4th on that pass it only got down to 13.5/1
I think im going to Rent Eps's dyno and tune it there.

Good choice. Just have Geoff tune it and be done with it.

Geoff helps me but im not new to tuning. I just have not tuned my 6 spd at wot without a dyno. my Nova was tuned at the track and when i took it to Geoff to dyno it, first pull was the best pull so we put it back where i had it.

I just never data logged at wot going through the gears to see the a/f get so lean.
ill just dyno it. Thanks

What all is done to the car? Have you tried to tune it in to the commanded 12.2? You may have fuel pressure issues if you don't have an adequate fuel system... Tuning on the street/track will sometimes show a fuel issue that doesn't show up on the dyno - if you aren't using a load dyno.

its a 6.0 lq4 with my old ported ls1 (241) heads. f14 cam 10.3 /1 compression 42 lb svo injectors 255 lt. pump. ported fast intake. Edelbrock long tubes and ory pipe. 4.11 gears in a 12 bolt.

the car is very close to 12.2 /1 if i start off in 4th or 5th. its only when i run through the gears its like the wide band cant keep up with how fast it revs

Which wideband are you using? It is possible that your wideband is slow to respond...

If you have to use the street, make sure you are logging few enough items to get high speed logging. Start your pull at about 2K and pull to redline in third. I generally repeat that in the log if the AFR isn't too wacky and then update.

I am using the Lm1 with serial to efi live. I am going to go through the tune next week when im off and have time. I took about a year break from reading and keeping up to date on tuning. Now im catching hell remembering the little tricks.
Ill get it , just will take me a while.
