The mileage reset happens to alot of cars. Mine does it when its cold out side. Not sure about the air bag light. It usually means that there is a problem.

I'm guessing it's cluster related too. The '99 cars reset the odo when battery voltage was low - GM TSB fix was to replace the cluster, but good battery makes it go away (air bag light wasn't mentioned, but sometimes the gauges would sweep on startup). Shouldn't be happening on an '02 with only 8K miles. Sounds like dealer time, they can test the cluster.

Ive had airbag and ABS both come on under a bad battery situation.
Replaced it and everything was happy.
Had another that did same with a good battery. I looked closely at the (+) cable and it was corroded inside the terminal. When I wiggled the cable it looked like it had dandruff inside the insulation.
I cleaned it real good, recrimped the terminal and all is good.

its not the battery, i just installed a new one and still the same problem, read the air bag module and got a B1001 code, and once i was reading the codes the odometer display was displaying error that i never seen, i guess i am going to check all the positive and grounding conections first........

Milage is Stored in the cluster, i would go to a scap yard and pick up a used cluster and try it out. im 90% sure you have a toasted cluster.

I have a place that i have dealt with that is local to me. That is qualified and certified to LEGALLY change the milage and repair the cluster. Look up my email address in my info, they will not let me post the name of the company since I nor them are site sponsors.
