Default P0171/0174 Fuel Trim system Lean Bank1/2

Hey guys got these codes the other day and cleared them. Seemed to happen after I had been following a truck at extreme slow speed and then it happened again when I was sitting idiling for about 10 minutes. Any idea what is causing this. could it just be a bad gas cap or bad fuel filter????

Most likely it's a loose air duct hose between the MAF and throttle. Check for a vacuum leak on the intake manifold next.

I have the same codes that keep popping up and it is pissing me off.

It could be a vacuum leak from the manifold, pvc tubing or throttle body.
An exhaust leak could cause it before the cats.
Check to see if the fuel pressure is 58psi at the rail.
Clean the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner.

If all that checks out like it did for me it has to be the tune, I have to get in touch with my tuner because to throw the code it means the engine is running over 25% too lean and the engine can't correct the issue anymore by dumping in up to 25% extra fuel.

Does your car run and idle fine because then it shouldn't be a vacuum leak. If the rpm hangs up and feels like you have traction control set while crusing it is a true lean condition.

Its more than likely a vacuum leak near the manifold. If your getting a lean code for both banks, then its gotta be something that contributes to both sides of the intake system and after the MAF sensor. Alot of the times it will be more noticeable on a cold start up, but the car will still drive/act fine. let the car sit overnight and then try spraying some carb cleaner near the manifold/hoses and keep an eye on your fuel trims, if they drop real low like -15 or -20 or your rpms suddenly increase then you have found your leak

Carr is running fine, not running rough at all, no problems with the idle. Have stock tune.

Both banks lean - I would look for a vacuum leak.
