Default Speed density LS3 tune?

I sold my last 08 C6 for a few reasons but mainly it was tuned by 3 different tuners and the slight surge would never get resolved.

Now I am about to buy another 08 with the G6X3 and bolt ons and obviously it surges as well, after 2 trips to his tuner. The LS3 maf's are WAY sensitive so I am curious-

Has anyone speed density tuned an LS3 yet?

Yes, though mine runs an ls1 pcm.
Cam is 232/247 on 113 with 617 lift & the surge is barely noticable. Some days it is non existant which is just some minor tweaking left to do.

I've done several. They're a different animal for sure. You may not get the surge out completely regardless of SD or MAF. You can't tune out overlap.

IMO it was as smooth as a big cammed car gets when I rode in it....

Jay, I would advise that no amount of tuning is going to make you happy with another big cammed set up like that...might be time to look into a nice set of heads and a more mild cam combo.

Thanks for the heads up-

I would actually go smaller with the cam but since the car is modded already, thought I'd ask.

The usual under 2K while light throttle when cruising. I'd have to go smaller, even though my "small" cam in my last LS3 (230/234/114) still had a surge.

I've found the credit card MAFs to be much more sensitive than the screened MAFs of the earlier C6s. Speed Density tune will help a lot, but most surging is a result of timing jumping around and airflow not being right for that particular rpm. You'd be amazed how much magic can be found with proper airflow and timing. Speed Density just tops it off!

The LS3 (E38) is a totally different PCM.

Small is relative

Didn't that thing lay down like 485 rwhp on our dyno?
