Default A4 to M6... Segment swap!?

I just swapped from an A4 to an M6 in my 1998 Camaro. I use HP tuners, I was just wondering if i really have to do a segment swap from my A4 to an M6 setup for the PCM.
Has anybody done it without a segment swap? I couldnt see why it wouldnt work if i did not do a segment swap
Thanks

The 98s only HAVE one segment. You need to re-flash it with an M6 file (make sure to write ENTIRE, NOT CAL) if that's what you want. You can probably get by with the M6 on an A4 file, but I'd never do that to a customer's car or my own.

If you turn off the SES lights, is there any ill effects whatsoever to running it on the A4 tune? (I'm doing that right now).

I don't really want to waste two credits to license an M6 file and then have to swap over all of my tuning data just so that it's "cleaner", but if there is a benefit to it, then i'll definitely do the work.

Sorry for the hijack buddy.

Leave the A4 Segment and just compare to an M6 file to copy across the differences.

What differences should there be other than the DTC's for auto stuff not working?

I turned off all the A4 DTC's and I don't have an SES now, and the car runs great (it actually runs better as an M6 than it did as an A4). With the A4 I always had a cold start idle issue and surging, now it runs like stock (and I'm a terrible tuner, heh).

I do have a "service vehicle" light, I'm sure this is because of the fact that it thinks it's an A4 and it's missing all sorts of data, so maybe that's something I'd have to deal with, any thoughts on what causes that?

Thanks folks.
