Default Surge fixed.. I'M A DUMBASS

:::::::::::::::read my last post:::::::::
My car has started surging and having a really odd idle.

I tried a few things.. like cleaning the MAF wires.. and that seemed to help but it didn't completely cure the problem.

The car surges when i go over bumps... or at a steady RPM [normally around 60 is when it does it most]

Took the car to the dealor and its throwing a MAF Low Voltage code...

Is there a way to fix my MAF? Wires look fine.. Do I need a new one?

Please give me suggestions. I need help QUICK. Thank you

sounds like a wiring issue, if bumps make it surge.

check the wires for any abrasions.

yeah thats what i was thinking but i can't see any bad places...

oh and its low frequency.. not low voltage. here is the code:

DTC P0102 Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit Low Frequency
Conditions for running DTC P0102:
-The engine speed is greater 300 RPM
-The system voltage is at least 1 1 0 volts

I dunno what to do..

Could be several things

1) Bad Wiring: As indicated above it could be a loose connection. This is a total pain to find. You either have to hand-over-hand the wiring back to the PCM or just run a new connection. Check the weather plugs first.

2) MAF: I have seen some hack-job ports throw this code.

3) Thermistors: These are the little things on your MAF that report the air flow. Make sure that there are no water marks, dirt or anything else on them (they look like little resistors). If worse comes to worse, you may have to swap the MAF if your wiring checks don't show anything.

4) PCM connection. Make sure that the pins on your PCM are okay. Specifically your MAF conneciton.

Good Luck

I just switched my MAF sensor .. put a granetelli [sp] MAF on and it does the same thing.

It has to be a loose connection somewhere. I guess I'll go run through the wires the best i can... i'm about to just take it to someone and tell them to do it for me.. this is a pain in the ***.

I'm wondering.. would it be possible that the MAF code being thrown isn't related to the surging.. the MAF code could just be from ported MAF ends..

Is it possible that one of the front o2 sensors is going bad..?

Its really weird how it only does it sometimes. Car will act perfectly fine.. and then it SEEMS like I hit a bump and it starts doing it again.. It almost dies sometimes when I am stopped.

Is it possible that the o2 sensor is going bad and isn't showing on the obdII scan?

i've been under my hood all day ... tracing wires... looking with light... changing mafs and driving.... this is starting to really **** me off.

So .. I'm the biggest idiot...

How about.. TRY THE SMALL THINGS FIRST..

So uhm... going over the bumps causing it to surge? Yes.. thats because the DIRT IN THE FUEL FILTER was bouncing around and clogging the line.. HELLOOOOO CHANGE YOUR FUEL FILTER OFTENNNN!

Hell.. I didn't even think about it.. Shows how much of a retard I am..

SO .. problem resolved in a 15 minute fuel filter replacement.

Thank GOD

I'm glad that solved your surging issue. But I don't think that would throw an MAF low Freq code.

My ses stays on because of !EGR...

I didn't know it was throwing the MAF but.. its because my ends are ported.
