Default Crank position Sensor?

I performed a search to attempt to find a reason/solution as to why my car has trouble starting. It cranks but wont start up. I've seen a few suggestion pointing toward the crank position sensor. Does anyone know a way I can check this myself? I've taken the car to the dealership once already and they only managed to prove their own ignorance to fixxing the car as it quit working two days after they "fixxed" it.

Also is there any easy way to check the fuel pump? Thanks for any help.
