Default Computers and tunes

Anyone ever tried to "wire in" a second stock computer to have a "track tune" in that can be switched on the fly? Or at least have a second computer with a tune that you switch out at the track? Thinking of having a street tune for 15lb boost on the street with pump gas and a second computer with a tune for 15lb and 150 wet with race gas for the track. What do yall think?

Some more options:

- EFILive FlashScan V2 allows you flash your PCM in handheld mode: you edit/create multiple tunes on a PC, and then you download to V2, you can then flash any one of those tunes into your PCM without requiring your laptop to be present (takes about 30 seconds);

- Run a Custom OS (available from EFILive and HPT) which provides extra tables for boost/nitrous: on the steet it will run the normal tables, at the track (when boost/nitrous kicks in) it will run the extra tables.

What option gets used the most? What are the ups and downs of each? Does the flash scan allow the tuner to do realtime changes and log while writing the tunes? Thanks

Just search EFI or HPT on here and there are high and low points to each. I have HPT but have messed around with EFI and I like HPT better(just the one I learned on).

No, a laptop is required for editing the tune, and the engine must be not running during flashing (with V2 the laptop does not have to be in the vehicle).

For realtime tuning (while engine is running). options are:
HPTuners: unused portions of PCM memory are used to do realtime tuning of most often edited tables.
EFILive: talks to Roadrunner PCM which allows realtime tuning of any/all tables.

The COS option is the easiest and best [IMO]...

you don't really need two tunes; one properly made tune should take care of street and strip.

Thanks guys looks like I have "one more" decision to make that I didn't think of. I love our cars but miss the simplicity of my old cuda's and camaro's.
