Default Idle

Where is everyone have their idle set... Mine is set a 800 in the tune but reads 1k on the dash. imo it seems a little low and choppy. I am running a 383 set up all my mods are listed in the garage.

I am assuming my tach is just wrong but, I just started playing with it myself so I didn't know it was off until now. I also noticed when I took a ride that it stayed in open loop the entire ride. It had to be at least a 10-15 minute drive.

what does that mean "cold start mode" I am new to the tune part of this. I thought it was a countdown and then went into closed loop automatically.

if you had to open the butterfly in the throttle body quite a bit (turn screw under throttle stop) to get your car to idle then it probably stays in the mode where the idle air control is continually adding air because it thinks the car is in cold start mode all the time. When your car is cold and you first start it up the IAC adds air. There is an adjustment in the PCM if you own tuning software or go to a tuner to allow for more throttle area (butterfly further open) before IAC adds air. I had to shift this table 4 columns to the right, that is, add another 4 zeros to the 5 or so that are in that table for a stock LS1. Mine is a 383 stroker also.
