Default Need a cheap handheld to adjust some small things

A little background. 1999 Z28, cam and boltons, Nick Williams dyno tune that I'm pleased with. I'm getting ready to swap my spare rear in that has 3.73 gears. I'd also like to lower the idle rpm maybe 100 rpm, or atleast be able to experiment with the idle level. Which handhelds would be a good buy used (unlocked of course) that can adjust idle? I know the later Predators can, but any else?

Also, if I go in with a handheld and just adjust for gears and idle speed, will it mess with my dyno tune? I'd go back to Nick, but I've got a feeling he'd charge more than I'd be willing to pay for such small adjustments and he's about 2 hours away from me. Could it be that there's someone local that can't actually tune but has the ability to adjust this stuff? Thanks!

I would just go with HPT, EFI or Tunercat. Handhelds are a great starting point but the actual tuning suites are so much better in the long run.

I'd screw up more than I'd help with something that serious. I'm pleased with what Nick did 2 years ago, even though I didn't own the car then. It had a dyno and driveability tune then, I just need to adjust for gears and if I'm gonna spend $100 or so to do that I'd like to mess with the idle. I don't think I'm serious enough to need a tuning program, especially for the money. I'll drive it like it is before I spend $400+. I'm not cheap, just it's not that much of a priority.

You can buy them used for pretty cheap.

Is NCSU for NC State?

Are you in Raleigh area?

Graduated from NCSU in 04, live in Winston Salem.

I didn't realize you could get full tuning software that cheap, I'll definitely look into it. Thanks!

I'll look into it, that one will be gone before I'm ready to buy one. I may try to get a Diablo. I like the idea of being able to adjust what I need on my Camaro, but also be able to unlock it from the car and use it on my 2000 Silverado if I need to as well. I know on the hypertechs you can still use as a code scanner, even if they're vin locked to another vehicle. Not sure about the Diablos though.

I have a Diablo. It's a few years old and locked but I would be willing to part with it, as I have HPT now.
