Default STFT VE Tuning

I am a little confused. I started with LTFT + STFT and got it down to -4 or less in all cells, now I am doing STFT only and not sure if I am doing it right. Do I need to reset the fuel trims for everytime I scan. For example If I reset trims, do a scan I get numbers all within +-4, if I stop the scan, start a new scan WITHOUT resetting the trims the numbers increase x2 or so. Just want to make sure I have this right before I mess something up. When I was tuning LTFT + STFT I reset after every log and was able to get it down within the +-4 range, and after doing this my 1st STFT scan (with a reset) was also very close to within that range. But I stopped the scan to go get some lunch, came back and started a NEW scan but did not reset my fuel trims and it was all out of wack. Thanks guys.

I never read the STFT. Usually use the LTFT to adjust the tune.
