Will a 99+ gauge cluster work in a 99+ harness swapped car
I have a 98 TA, i switched in a pcm and main engine harness from a 01 ls1 camaro, i am not worried about the tuning, just getting all the 98 gauges to work, i found a gauge cluster out of a 00 car, will the important gauges work if i swap that in, or do i just need to bight the bullet and switch all the pin connectors in the pcm.. i am aware that the 98 sending unit will still need re-pinned but will the tach and speedo work with the newer style gauges....any input would be great!
Thanks
Thanks

You'll need the '98 temp sender to feed the cluster temp gauge, and a 99-up temp sender for the PCM to read how hot the engine is. You'll need to wire the fuel sender to the 99-up style (and get a segment swap) if you wish to be able to adjust fuel level/vs ohms (useful for custom or oversized fuel tanks) in HP Tuners. If you don't care about it, just use the 98 sender. I forget which wire is for the tach, but it is definitely "do-able".....I did it on mine.
Caleditor is a good source of help on here as far as wiring/segment swaps, etc...look him up, and drop him a line if you have any questions. He's very helpful.

Bringin it back... Im needing some help with this, I dont fully understand. Theres a number of things I see on the 98 that I don't see on the 2000
All these are on the 98 but I don't understand where they plug in on the 99+
A2 (Fuel Gauge Signal)
A6 (Low coolant level indicator) from the 98?
A7 (Airbag Indicator)
A8 (TCS OFF Indicator)
A14 (Generator Output Indicator)
A15 (Oil Level Lamp Signal)
A16 (Low TRAC Indicator)
A17 (ECT Sensor)
B1 (Odometer Illumination)
B13 (Tach Signal)
B17 (ABS Fail Signal)

In short....yes. If your car was already a factory v8 car, then just do a search for "2000 pcm swap re-pin" and you should find your answers. There's no reason that I can remember to swap to a different cluster or wiring harness....just re-pin the PCM bulkhead for the newer PCM. Keep in mind that the 98 cluster is analog-controlled....while the 99-up (iirc) is is serial-data.
