It's split 50/50. 6 case studies fill approximately 195 pages in the 330+ page book (how wicked is that?!). The 3 case studies featuring HP Tuners software is approximately 90 pages and the 3 case studies featuring EFI Live software is approximately 105 pages (just how the case studies turned out). The transmission tuning section is also split about 50/50 so that both HP Tuners and EFI Live users can see what they're getting into with trans tuning. The trans tuning chapter is approximately 33 pages.
Lots to enjoy...

ordered, hope this is as good as people said about the last version...I was under the impression the entire book was written as how to use each software type rather than a generic section with a couple examples for each tuning suite

I think the main difference is that this one includes EFI Live case studies and I believe the other thread mentioned it is spiral bound.

I would like to know what else has changed though...hasn't it been about a year since this book was announced?

It's rather simple actually, and that is the addition of 3 EFI Live case studies along with some EFI Live info in the trans section. In other words, the First Edition simply got thicker with additional EFI Live information. For those of you who use HP Tuners only and don't care about EFI Live info, there is no point in getting this new book. Can it help? Yes, I believe the extra case studies may help some better understand the tuning process, but can you do without it? Sure you can. For those that might want to upgrade to the new book for grins and giggles, put your old copy up for sale so that someone who is an HP Tuners user exclusively can get good info for cheaper money. It'll probably help both parties.

Answers:
1. & 2. - 3 case studies the same (HP Tuners examples) and 3 new case studies featuring EFI Live software.

3. VVE is covered in case study #6 with a twin turbo LS7 in a Factory Five GTM car. This simply shows the practical application of VVE tuning and includes a little something you may encounter in the real world that can set you back. You'll understand this remark when you read the case study. Hopefully this case study (#6) will teach people to think ahead with the complete planning of their vehicle and engine build before they jump into tuning and think that every problem can be solved with a laptop.
And finally, yes, some basic 6L80 info is covered. Shift tables, shift speeds, line pressures and torque management/reduction, etc, but NOT INERTIA FACTOR tables. These are advanced topics (as is variable valve timing tuning) and should be left alone by the average tuner unless you truly understand the prinicples of these systems and their impact on powertrain function. We're currently putting together some training materials that we'll have available soon (don't even think about asking when; we won't reply to these questions!) and we'll announce when they become available as online webinars.
