Default LS1 with BS3 won't start

hey guys, I'm having some trouble getting my LS1 to crank with a new BS3 install. I've tried with a crank reference of 350, 355, 360, and 370. I have spark and fuel. I put new plugs in tonight. After laying on the key for a little bit it'll sometimes try to hit a little bit, but never quite fires off. I did a BAL and i'm getting a grey dot while cranking. In the IO Status screen I'm usually getting some "bad sync" events. I searched through the manual, on google, on here, and other forums and can't find any info on the bad syncs. Sounds like it may be an indicator of the issue. Any ideas?

Also, one weird thing i noticed, my TPS won't ready more than 55% or so. i pulled off the sensor and did a sweep lock to lock sweep. still 55% give or take. I haven't had a chance to put a multimeter on it yet. I don't see this affecting my start-up though. i set the flood control to 30% throttle temporarily.

If the wiring for the sensors is messed you could be pulling the 5-volt source down thus only having 55% scale on the tps. I don't remember the differences pin to pin. Just a thought.

It's a ls1 engine. I'm not familiar with the ls2 sensor. Will a ls2 sensor fit in the ls1 block behind the intake? I can check the part number when I get home.

I saved the cal out of the BS3 when i first hooked it up.

Im pretty sure the ball turns green, but i can check when i get home.
The other dot that shows up after pressing the B A L keys turns grey while cranking Is it supposed to turn green too?
