Default USB ---> Serial Adapter

Well I finally got a plaptop to use for ATAP and need to get an adapter to be able to use it. My machine only has UBS's (great idea Toshiba! ) but it was free so I can't bitch.

What adapters are out there for me?

Just go to Radio Shack and grab one. No one makes computers with serial or floppy drives anymore Autotap/EFIlive have USB connections now and Flashscan (when released) will be USB only

Or Best Buy. Mine cost like $30 - came with cable and software. I use it with the older A-tap and LS1 Edit. The only thing I found "weird" was the COM port. On A-tap I use COM 1; on LS1 Edit COM 4. No idea why, but it works great.

If your laptop has a PCMCIA card slot, you can use RS-232 card. I have this one and it works fine. I've heard using the PCMCIA are faster and more reliable then using USB. Maybe somone can chime in. I also know Belkin's USB serial port adapter with ATAP too.

Well that'd make better in my opinion also! After doing some research part of the reason for the Keyspan being faster is because the Keyspan was designed to be a Serial Port while the Belkin is meant to be a PDA Adapter.
