Default Cleaned MAF and WOW!!!

i cleaned my MAF and TB today cause my idle was fluctuating when transitioning from open loop to closed loop, and WOW...did it make a huge difference. the idle is so much better, the O2 readings are better, still a little ehhh, but runs good. didn't realize how dirty that thing was.

my idle improved (slightly disappointed cause now it is a little less choppy)
exhaust smells better (no cats)
better acceleration under the curve

so to anyone that has over 50K on there motor, i highly suggest this.

yep, for future reference, a good way to tell if your MAF is bad or malfunctioning is tapping on it gradually and listen for any hesitation in the engine. Also if you unplug your MAF and your engine runs better, then definitely time for a replacement lol

If you have a scanner, gather a lot of data with Dynamic Airflow (not MAF Airflow, that's just a lookup) and MAF Frequency, export the data, open it in Excel, and do a scatter chart of MAF Freq vs Dynamic Airflow, and you will see the main trend that's gonna look like your MAF calibration, but there's also going to be noise all around it. Lots of noise means clean your airfliter/MAF.

You might want to check if your lid/filter is leaking (how the MAF got dirty).

i bought the MAF used off a 2003 vette. it is a 85mm one and i never cleaned it. i also have a K&N filter and those tend to let some stuff by.

Yep, mine was so bad it made the car stall and act like it was choking for fuel.
Car stalled 3 times because the MAF Sensor was failing.
I finally unplugged it and drove the car to a parts store to pick up a new sensor.
