Default electrical issues need help

Got a used timng twister and got it all installed,triple checked all wiring, car cranked ran for a few minutes and shorted out and melted a few wires to it before i could the battery disconnected,ordered a new one and hooked it up the same way all correct and car cranks and pulls timing but when you floor it all dash lights pop up right quick and sounds like a intake backfire and dies,plugged the harness in without twister does the same thing,replaced cam sensor no fix and now car will not crank at all,any suggestions???

Melted wires says dead short or incorrect install.
Time to t/s the cam sensor circuit.
This unit also plugs into the crank sensor? When cranking, does the tach show rpm? If not, no crank sensor signal. Time to t/s that circuitry, too.

Codes set? Scan while cranking could help locate the issue[s].

hooked the new unit up the same way and it works, drove it around a few times pulls timing, but now it want even try and bust off, think it may have got the crank sensor??
