Default PCM corrupted

I went to have my car re-tuned for the new cam. Originally it had an
MS3 cam and according to the dealer it was dyno tuned by Texas Speed. The previous owner did live in Texas, so that's believable. When the tuner tried to get in he couldn't. He couldn't even over ride it with the GM software. He said the security code Texas Speed used corrupted the PCM. I thought Texas Speed doesn't lock their tunes. So now I have to get a new PCM
Good thing the car runs with the new tune but I know I have drive it very carefully.

It's not corrupted, it's tuner-locked.

Tuner locks are there to prevent wanna-be's to copy tunes and sell them as their own, or mess with another guy's tune and blow the engine.

A good tuner is capable of unlocking any PCM and start over.

You don't need a new PCM, only a new tuner.

The tuner is supposed to be one of the best in the area and is a site sponsor.

It's not difficult to unlock a tunerlocked PCM.
There are people here who can unlock your PCM for a fee, you can have it back in a few days. Much cheaper than a new one.

Since I don't want my car down (I can drive it), I bought a used PCM from a company off EBAY. It was only $99.

I usually only charge 30 dollars to unlock those things if you ever want a spare. I can make it a stock file pretty easy.

Quick update. Received my the PCM and got the car dynotuned. On the dynodynamics it dynoed 317/308. I have read that dynodynamics read about 11-12% lower than a dynojet so 355/345 seems about right for an 04 GTO, M6 with K&N and 222/222 cam.

Just a thought - but did you contact Texas Speed at all? I've had very good experiences with them.

I emailed them before but they couldn't tell me any info. They needed the previous owners information.

Find another tuner to unlock it. With the correct software you don't have to loose the current tune and go back to a stock tune either in case you want to save the existing tune.
