Default 2psi boosted camaro, breakup at high rpm, bouncing afr's

I just got done with a very low boost (for now) turbo build on an 02 ls1 camaro. I am running off a 1.9 psi spring in my precision wastegate. I seem to be having odd problems. For one, the car will not go into boost, the turbo will spool up to 0psi, and will not go above that. I am on stock injectors and maf. Seeing that I am using truck manifolds, emmisions components have been removed. The only 'tuning' I've done so far is to disable the evap and rear o2 sensor items.

1) At idle, my AFR seems to go all over. It will bounce between rich and lean (less than 10 and over 17).

2) While accelerating, the afr seems to be within a good range, usually 13-14.

3) At high rpm, the car will start to cut out. It sort of dies instead of continuing to gain rpm. (at this time the boost sits at 0psi, will not go above).

-why are my afr's so erratic at idle? Why is the car falling over itself once it hits higher rpm's, especially if it is not getting any boost?

Any input / base tune would be great. I've done a good deal of reading, but this is my first boost build, and first time playing with tuning, so I'm kind of green to all of this right now.

Are you using stock worn out valvesprings by chance?

Yes, valve springs are stock. I don't really think that would be the issue with only a 1.9 psi spring in the waste gate though. But again, I'm open to any input as I'm out of my comfort zone.

I'm thinking maybe changing to a 4psi spring in the wastegate just for a test, just to see if I can get over 0psi with that.

I don't have fuel psi gauge, but considering I'm running very rich at WOT, according to the afr, I assume my fuel pressure is ok.

^ you cannot assume that either. There is alot that has to be addressed. If you post up your log and tune, I am sure there will be plenty of things to start looking at.

Are you still on the stock map sensor?
Where are you getting your boost readings from

I'm on stock map, and also stock tune other than evap and rear o2's being disabled.

I'm looking to find a low boost base tune I can throw on there, swap out my injectors, and bump up to maybe 4 or 6 psi and go from there.

Well the stock map sensor only reads 105kpa. You need to go to a 2 or 2.5 or 3 bar map sensor and tune

What this man said. The car cannot read or compensate for boost without a 2 or 3 bar map and a corresponding operating system to read and use it.

That being said, if the car is pretty tame other than the turbo, it should still make boost. If it's not, then there's probably something mechanically wrong. Anything more than light bolt ons and bets are off on that though. How are you measuring boost? Boost gauge or are you using scanning software? As bad6as said, scanning software won't read boost but a boost gauge still should.

Any of the software scanners out there will read boost as long as you tell them to and the pcm is calibrated to read it and you use a map that will read that high.
