Default What tune file should I start off tuning from? 427 stroker C5

2002 Z06 with built, heavily modified 427 stroker, and supporting mods...

So, I'm ready to begin tuning via HP Tuners software, but I haven't decided which tune file I should use as my foundation. I'd strongly prefer not to use the current tune, since the previous owner was using a DiabloSport Predator, and I'm not too confident with his results, so I'd like to start from a stock, or stockish tune file. Should I just stick with a stock 2002 Z06 file? Or could I use a file from a newer, larger displacement vette like an ls2, ls3, or ls7? Are the tune file from these newer vettes even backwards compatible with the C5's computer? If so, which would be the best starting point? The Ls7 obviously shares the same displacement, although I do have an LS2 style top-end (MAF, T-body, AFR heads, FAST intake).

Please share your thoughts...

Start with a completely stock C5 file that matches the car/PCM combo. If you want to buy a starter tune for your combo, send me an email.

Thanks for your replies. I'll very likely start with a stock tune, but hypothetically speaking, will a file from one of the following cars work (In case I chose to go with a modified tune file)?

-a non z06?
-different year C5?
-an automatic?
-is there a PCM model # or something that must match? If so, where can I find that info?

The OS has to be a match for your PCM.

Even if you found something close to what you wanted, you would just copy that info into your original tune. It's never recommended to just flash a tune from another car onto your pcm. Plus it would cost more credits.
