Default What gear am I in and am I on the brakes?

I have searched and read so many different and dumb answers to this simple question it is amazing. Engine is 2005 LS2, E40 ECM. TH400 trans. No PNP switch, no brake switch, no speed signal. The wires that would go to them are dangling. Engine seems to run fine but I do want to know what the computer is thinking.

Does it think I am always in neutral? Drive? Park?

Does it think I never hit the brakes?

I have heard people say it wouldn't even run without one or all of these things. They're obviously wrong because it runs fine. Could it be running better if I hot wired some of these wires somehow though? Does it have park vs. drive tables of some sort? I see a few in HP tuners but nothing that looks like it would affect anything greatly.
