Default Advice requested please.

Im doing a whole top end upgrade on my 02 TA. I have a hypertech power programmer. What I am wanting to know is will my programmer be enough for the tune after the install? Also upgrading the cam aswell.

Get a custom dyno tune, or at a bare minimum get a mail order. The handheld is only a means of accelerating the rate in which you will break otherwise good parts.

Ok so custom tune runs around $150 or so? Is it safe to drive the car after the install or should I just trailer it?

Depends on the scope of your upgrades. Mild cam, port cleanup, etc....probably do-able.

Large cam, heavy porting or aftermarket heads, tb, etc.....trailer it to the dyno.

You will pay $500ish for a good tune. If you change the injectors, don't even start it prior to tuning or you risk washing the rings - otherwise, you can drive it, but be very easy on it... and it will be a pain to keep running if you have a bigger cam.

New trick flow heads, 228/230 cam, FAST LSXR intake 92mm throttle body. I would say trailer it then.

Cool thanks guys. Appreciate the help.

They will be able to delete my rear O2 sensor also right? Or can I do that with my handheld?

Yeah they will take care of your rear O2 sensors and negative you won't be able to delete them with your handheld programmer.

You were right. I found a good place here that does everything I will need. They charge $550. That gives me 3 pre tune dynos, full tune, nd 3 final dynos.

I would not let anyone make pulls on an untuned car... nor would I trust anyone to tune my car if they think it is okay to do so... can't believe they advertise that - shows their lack of knowledge right there!

If I were you, I would do some more research and find someone in your area who really knows what they are doing...

No I asked them if I could dyno before install and after. They said they will give me 3 before and 3 after install plus the tune for $550. Sorry for confusion.
