5.3 in 94 chevy truck and 4l60e will not engage
I am thinking of getting a 94 chevy truck with 5.3 and 4l60e. He said he reflashed the computer. Yeah, it has a psi stand alone harness. But he says the tranny will not engage, someone told him it needs reprogrammed for the tranny to work. I don't know how true that is. Or can I just get the computer for that year motor and tranny or can I reprogram that computer to work?

Check the trans fluid with the engine off. Then, recheck running. Did the fluid level drop when running?
If not, the trans ft pump may not be working. As in, the converter was not all the way into the pump, and the trans was pulled up on the engine...That took the pump out.

The 94 and earlier 4l60e's have a different internal transmission harness and plug. You should use a 95+ harness and plug. I found this out while doing the swap in my 95. Get on ls1truck.com - gpod info there

The 94 trans does not have the pulse width torque converter lock up solenoid and the pcm can't control the converter lock up. By default you will have 3rd and reverse with no wiring hooked up to the trans. If you don't have that then the trans is your problem. I would find a 95+ trans so that the pcm can control it fully.

If the converter was not seated properly before bolting the trans to the motor then the trans pump gets jambed up. If the motor was started like that then the pump self destructs and puts filings all through the trans. Either way if it does not move at all the trans has to come out.
