Default dwell timming issues

hello all

i have been having problems with the ls3 coils on the 408 i have had built recently(converted from ls1 coils to ls3) . the problems i have are as follows:
.misfiring at low rpm
.hard cranking when starting after engine is hot . sometime also get pre-ignition

i have changed the starter motor as i was told that was the problem .
The ls1 coil wires and plugs were used , could this be the problem.
The tunner has told me that he has changed the dwell timming .
The tunner is telling me to go back to the ls1 coils , i can't understand this as the ls3 coil is supposed to be a better coil.
so if any one has the tables for the dwell timming and the following or has come across similar problems , i would like your assistance.

Maximum Dwell
Maximum Spark Duration
Acceleration Compensation

Battery Voltage Compensation
Setting Net Voltage Dwell Compensation
8.0 Volts
10.0 Volts
12.0 Volts
14.0 Volts
16.0 Volts
Thanks Nev
