Default What am I doing wrong resetting my computer?

I tried two ways, unplugged the negative from the battery, and I tried leaving the ignition on and pulling the PCM IGN and PCM ECU fuses.

Niether reset my computer, and I base this on the fact my trip odometer hasn't reset.

What am I doing wrong?

You followed this procedure exactly?

Assuming that the trip odometer resets on a PCM reset.

I don't believe the trip odometer resets on a PCMreset ... the PCM doesn't control the odometer or the trip meter (there may be some controls their ... but the PCM doesn't track the trip odometer for sure)

Best way to tell is follow the procedure bomax posted and then after when you start the car it should idle kinda funky ... especially if you have a cam or converter or something

I believe it goes: ignition on...pull PCM_IGN and PCM_BAT fuses...wait a few minutes...ignition off...reinstall fuses

Yeah that's definitely what I did. However there was no wierd idle like my old one had when I reset it, and the trip odometer didn't reset like my 98 did. My old one had a converter though.

You have to do it much longer than is listed. I tried it for 5 mins, 10 mins, 15 mins. Eventually I left it out for at least an hour while I ate supper, came back and it was reset this time.

using the fuse pull method shouldn't take more than a minute or so... I've done it prolly a hundred times and I only leave it like that for about 30-45 seconds ..

here is the method I employ

1. Put key in Run
2. Pull PCM bat
3. Pull PCM ign
4. Wait for a while
5. Turn key to off, give a few seconds, turn to run, wait a few... repeat 2-3 times
6. try starting car.. it wont start.. (not necessary... but just something I do)
7. Replace PCM Ign fuse
8. Replace PCM Bat fuse
9. put key back in off
10 start car ... car runs like **** ... spend 10 minutes trying to get the car to idle
