autotap question

autotap question i have the program but not the cord. the cord i was gonna use needs a serial port. my laptop doesnt have a serial port. it uses USB ports. what will i haveta do inorder to get AUTOTAP to work on my laptop.

i think the autotap guys (www.autotap.com) will recommend one. I suggest instead using a PCMCIA -> serial port. They are more, well, reliable timing wise.

You don't have a pcmcia port? You can buy a pcmcia serial port on ebay cheap.
my laptop from 4 years ago has a firewire, usb, serial, and two pcmcia ports.

The program/software is free, to make it work you'll need to buy an interface cable and either an AutoTap or EFILive license.
The latest ATUSB interface cable will plug directly into your laptop's USB port.
