Default Cranks won't start/A-tap shows low cranking rpms

I've had this problem for ever. I even put in a known good motor thinking that the reluctor ring was the problem. (Same issues) The car will turn over but, will not fire. I've checked spark/fuel (good). Relays and fuses are good. I've bought a new crank sensor and that didn't fix it.

A-tap shows only 145-160rpms during cranking. That has to be a bad thing. Right? So could I have a bad PCM? Or what?

Help

check the voltage at for the crank sensor with the ATAP and then manually check it at the crank sensor with a volt meter. It could be that the wire has high resistance in it.

Thanks man, I was just reading the .pdf file in the sticky at the top of this forum. I was going to check the signal from the CKP sensor, thinking that the PCM must be seing a bad measurement from it.

Also, what would be a good meter to get for our cars? I'm going to Radio Shack this afternoon to pick one up.

I think most meters will be fine nowadays. Just depends on if you want some extra things like temp, backlights, auto ranging, etc.
