turbo 5.7 tune vs turbo 5.3 tune
i currently have a turbo ls1. i recently spun a rod bearing and am looking to pick up a junkyard 5.3 while i rebuild my 5.7.....so my questions are these:
could i run the same tune on the 5.3 as i did on the 5.7? (stock engine with a turbo kit)
are the pcm/wiring harness the same on the 5.3 as it is on the 5.7? plug and play?
thanks!

i did it but went n/a with nitrous. the 5.3 runs really well on the old ls1 tune, and everything was plug and play (except for i had to get a 3 wire water temp sensor since my car is a 1998).

Not enough info here...Are you using the 04 harness from the truck and swapping the 98 in? If so you will have to change the coolant sensor to a 2-pin(98 is 3pin), oil pressure sensor will need to be swapped from 5.3 to the 5.7 for the gauges in the truck to work. Also the LS1 injector connectors from the '98 are different than the Silverado's. I think that's about it..If you swap the trucks intake manifold and fuel rail with injectors you wouldn't have to change wiring but a new tune would probably be needed for best results.

And as far as 5.7 vs 5.3 I'll use the iron block they will handle good bit of hp stock bottom end and u can abuse the crap out of it.

Crank sensor is the same since the first 97 LS1 to the newest Gen3 5.3/6.0 in 2007. All of them use 24X reluctor.
The change started in Gen4 engines like the LS2 in 2005 for cars and suvs and 2007 for trucks, crank sensor is different and reluctor is 58X
You can run the 5.7 tune for the 5.3, but it's better to use one from a 5.3 because they are different. Fueling and timing will not be too different but it's better to retune to dial thins to the new motor

I believe the crank sensor might be different as well not sure but I do know they changed it on the ls1's around 2001_02 I have a ls1 in a mustang and when I got the harness for it the tech guy told me that unless it was talking about the reluctor gear.
