Tech 2 write over tuner cat
Hi,
I currently have a tuner cat tuned tcm in an 06 c6 A6 that feels very oem-ish. Can a chevy dealer flash the original oem stock tcm tune over the tuner cat tcm tune? I don't currently have an oem tcm tune so i'd like a backup one. I will be putting a hpt tcm tune from ECS in the car. TIA

Yes, as long as the PCM/ECM isnt locked (I dont know if you can even do that with TunerCATS). If it's locked, you wont be able to write to it with anything unless you have the key used to lock it in the first place.

Ive found that to be completely the case, I held out a long time but finally broke down and bought HPT. Between HPT and EFILive, most of the stuff is covered. I wont buy Jet DST, much rather buy TunerCATS but until I need a RoadRunner that cant happen.

I've run into problems that the GM TIS does to a pcm..... erase the serial number
then HPT you need model\year license. EFI will put a new serial in it and license the
pcm but good luck unlocking it to edit with anything else but EFI.

Flash it to assign a new serial number then it becomes just like a normal, unlocked controller. I havent had it happen in a while, next time it does Ill keep an eye out and try again with HPTuners.
