Default GA / FL / SC tuners????

Anybody know of a tuner that knows / understands how to tune a cammed VVT motor???? I have had NO luck... They can all tune LS's but none know the VVT tricks. I'm willing to drive but not to Texas!!!!

Please help... I've been dealing with this for a year now & I'm at the end of my rope!!!!!

I would try vengence. They do a lot of the more modern ls motors. I don't know this for sure, but it is just s hunch. It really is not that difficult or that much different, just more time consuming.

Let us know if we can help you out. We have dealt with cammed VVT setups in the past, although we recommend deleting them, it can still be done. What is the application?

Thanks!

Hey Zach...
LY6 mast cam, camaro intake & injectors, psi harness, yank ss4000, 3:70 9"rear. Its in a 67 Olds Cutlass Convertible. Car runs ok (not nearly what it should be) but only with VVT turned off in the tune, turn it on and it pops, sputters & barely runs. There are no tuning tables available from mast & my local tuners have not been able to figure it out. I hate to spend $$ to delete the VVT & go new can etc... When the $$ has already been spent. I have read about many guys with similar set-ups that LOVE it once dialed it was dialed in. I've been screwed over a few times in the last year building this car so I just need someone i can trust that actually understands the diagnosing & tuning of this setup. Thanks for any feedback.

Nelson performance is who is doing the tuning on my truck, they will mail order you a ecm with a tune, or if you have hptuners he will do it and email it to you and you can upload it. which is the route i'm taking since no one around seems to want to fool with it.

What PCM is in the car? DBW or Cable TB? What trans is in the car? Is the camshaft from Mast made to be ran with the VVT? We would need to have the car here and would be glad to take a look at what you have to get it worked out for you. Let us know if we can help!

Thanks Zach....I'm running the E38 ECM, 4l85e Trans, dbw, corvette pedal & MAF, & yes... The cam is a VVT based cam. I just have to figure out when I can get up to you and drop the car off.

Haulass350... Thanks for the Nelson idea... I just can't do a mail order tune. Too many varying factors on my build to make that work in my opinion. I'd rather get the car to someone & get it tuned properly. Where in Savannah are you?? I'm out on the Islands

Yeah I'm sending in data logs to nelson for him to do it so it does take a little time.

I'm over in port Wentworth, but I have a few friends on the islands with a couple ls powered mustangs and a mud truck

I'm sure Hientz will get you straightened out. If you need anything we are also not too far away from you. Have you talked to MAST about the issue?

Unique Tuning in hardeville SC did my 2010 camaro he mostly did dodge/ford stuff but he did a great job on my camaro. i did not take the truck to him since he didnt seem as sure about a speed density supercharged setup, and was wanting me to keep the mass air to tune it so i went with nelson. he uses Diablo programers and has a Dynojet to run it on.

I just got a great tune done at Spartan Performance. Now I just have the basic LS but he had CTS-V's, GXP's, Porsche in his shop being worked on and I know he can do BMW's as well since we were talking about my M5. I know that specifically with my BMW the VANOS system can be challenging from a variable timing aspect.

I'd give Josh at Spartan a call. Josh is a straight shooter and is a GM trained Tech. He will do you a quality job. Vengeance is real good shop too and they'd do a first rate job as well.

Thanks for all the input & suggestions. I have friends in the Cumming, GA area so I believe I'm going to take the car to Mike C @ Vengeance next month. This way I can stay for a few days and not be rushed & no hotel room needed!!!
