MSD Atomic LS EFI
Hey Everyone
The plan is to swap a Lq4 into my 78 Trans am next winter, so Im trying to get all the swap components figured out so I have it all ready to go. I purchased a Lq4 and 4l80e drop out, came with the harness but it has been cut. I have been looking into the new MSD Atomic LS units. I realize I could have a rewire done on the stock harness, but the ease and clean appearance of installation the MSD unit seems to offer has me very interested.
I am wondering what everyones opinion were on these kits? can the same overall HP numbers be achieved out of the self tuning MSD, compared to a dyno tune?
The price has me hesitant on the kit, but I think the self tuning capability makes it worth it. As upgrades to the engine do not require a trip to the tuners and more $$ which I think would add up to be the same eventually.
Im new to the LS stuff so wanna get some opinions to make sure this route is a good idea. Im really impressed with the overall apperance and apparent ease that MSD has designed into this setup, and feel at the end of the day may make this swap go much easier
Thanks
Mike

These atomic EFI kits are pretty popular with the hot rod guys around here. In my opinion they never drive that well. I would use a 411 computer to control it and find a good local tuner with HPtuners or EFIlive.
Like you know you can also rework your own harness.
