Default How much did GM spend tuning LS1 GTOs?

So I looked at a LS1 GTO tune vs a 03/04 Z06 tune and WOW. The VE table on the GTO looked like a 2yr olds art project compared the smooth, perfectly peaking VE table on the Z. The Z PE table was appropriate and dipped were it needed to and was steady and smooth otherwise. The GTO PE was all over the place.

So GM spend 100% more time tuning the Z compared to a GTO?

Even the C5 tunes are better, I mean come on, at least make it look like you tried. Recovery from knock retard is ridiculous between the two with the Vette aggressively recovering and the GTO just like "Uh maybe in a hour I'll get to it".

Given their return on investment I'd say it was about right.

Sorry, I'm an ***.

Your not being an ***. I get that they would put more effort into Vettes and specifically the Z06, but damn at least make it LOOK like you spent 5mins on the GTO tune. I'll see if I can get a picture of the stock VE table and how it looks like a stair case. Just hit the "smooth" button once!

Oh I brought this up because I just copied a Z06 VE table over to my GTO to "cut to the chase" with smoothing out my VE table. They peak at the same points but the GTO fails a cliff after peak while the Z06 levels off.

I have literally watched back to back dyno pulls where an a4 ls1 gto picked up 30-40rwhp with a tune and cold air intake because of the ridiculous stock tune in the gto.

The GTO is a rebadged Holden Monaro made in OZ.
Of coarse Holden is a GM co.

Just as an FYI, the VE tables are not where all the difference in power is hiding in most instances the VE tables are mainly for reference in the tune for the maf.

Yea I'm not doing any WOT tuning. I just put the Fast 92 and NW 92 on so I needed to re-tune for them. But of course having it dialed in is the first piece of the pie.

I know this is a super old thread, but what table are you seeing those graphs in? I'm looking at B0101 in my 2004 GTO tune (and a C5 Z06 tune) and seeing much different graphs. I've attached my current tune for reference. As an FYI, I'm also pretty new to EFILive.

For starters 04 GTOs are LS1s, not LS6s. And GM calibration engineers are tuning for emissions, longevity, and drive ability for the masses, not just all out performance.

Right, but what table(s) is 420gto referring to?
