Default Mail Order tune headaches

Well my mail order tune that I thought just needed a few tweaks has turned into an nightmare. Me being completely new to EFI and the car running ok I thought I was on my way. After a couple bad dyno tunes I sent the PCM back to my mail order tune guy to get me back to where it was. Now I have Hptuners and after running into some brick walls I decided to post my tune for some help. Like I said previously, I knew nothing about what to look for so it took a forum member to point out that my IFR table was off and my VE table's values are low.

Long story short, I specifically told him that I had 83lb injectors but in the IFR table he put 42 across the board. I'm running a F1A procharger so I "now know" that that ain't going to work and i know he new it. Maybe it was just an oversite. The problem now is I can't get the correct data for these damn FIC (Fuel Injection Connection) injectors. When I purchased them they only came with a flow chart. Me not knowing anything I thought that was all I needed. Oh yea, now my mail order guy no longer visirs the site or he very seldom does and FIC was no help.

Sorry for the rant.......

Yeah, mail order tunes are worthless. 42 definitely sounds off, Im not sure about those injectors but most have flow data at 42 psi or so, and you likely have 60 psi, so that changes the flow data. So roughly speaking, a 60lb injector would actually run around 80lbs.

Finding that data sucks *** and the ones who know aren't telling. Can't blame them though because that's how they make money. I was told the IFR table numbers should be in the 90s with those Injectors. If the injector tables are off it throws off everything.

I know you had a not so good experience with your last mail order tuner BUT not everyone who does mail order tunes is like that. I can help you through email with your tune, we do email and remote tunes all the time. I'll take a look at what your got for free and if I can help you we can go from there. If I cant help you then it wont cost you anything.

Maybe you could sell the injectors you have and get ones with confirmed flow numbers. Then it's pretty easy to tune after that. But somebody on the HP Tuners forum should have the data, but yeah..sometimes people on there are stingy with injector data.

Funny you mentioned that. I've been looking at Injector Dynamic's ID1000 injectors.

Those injectors are pricey but I guess they're worth it if they come with good data and are easier to make run right.

Be careful of the Siemens Deka 80#s. Seems many on here recommend them but no one will post the HP tuners flow data. However, they will suggest you buy a $250 cd that has the info on it. Lol

I've a set of ID 1000's with less than 300 miles if you are interested. I abandoned the FI idea, the stroker is enough. Let me know if your interested.

Items such as injectors I would rather buy new.

I want to thank Russ K for pointing out that my injector data from my mail order guy wasn't correct for my blown application. If he would not have pointed that out I would probably still be chasing my tail. Also Blk02WS6 stepped in with the correct injector data and is still hanging around to answer any and all questions a noob like me would ask. Then Ed Hutchings from Hitechtuning.com offered to help - free of charge - and guided me (step by step in the beginning) on getting the car fired up. Later we discovered that the 2000 F-Body operating system that was installed in my mail order tune wasn't working properly, so I stepped up to a custom 2002 F-Body operating system from Ed. I am now happy to report that the car idles beautifully in park and in gear. There's still a few tweaks here and there but its running 100% better - I even took it to a cruise yesterday. Getting this kind of help from these gentlemen is what forums like this is all about. Thank you.................
